Edan Syah Sets PB at The Boston Marathon 2015

Edan Syah, An avid and self-coached runner. A sub-2:45 Marathoner and a Running Coach from Athlete’s Circle Malaysia has set his personal best once again in the recent The Boston Marathon 2015 with a net time of 2:41:55. This was his 7th full marathon and it was one of his biggest achievement to date as he was the youngest and fastest Malaysian to qualify and run The Boston Marathon 2015.

His intensive training kick started 16 weeks towards The Boston Marathon 2015 covering a mileage of 2260 kilometers. Averaging with 565 kilometers per month, Edan like every working individual spends his day at work and heads to train night. He calls himself a “citizen runner” and emphasizes that running is not all about racing, it is also about competing and challenging yourself while achieving your goal.

“I train at night to climatize the time that I will be running in the Boston Marathon. As we all know, the time in Boston, Massachusetts, USA is 12 hours apart and I will be running the same time as I could be resting in Malaysia.” – Edan Syah. Besides training on track, Edan Syah does strength session to increase his muscle power at the gym before heading to work. He takes up 10k races like the Yoma Yangon Marathon 2015 as part of to tune up for The Boston Marathon 2015.

Besides training physically, Edan cross trains according to the prediction of what was coming during race day. Adaptation of Rudy Project’s Eyewear was vitally important depending on the weather in Boston. “I have to switch among the range of lenses depending on the time and weather during my training period. I chose the ImpactX™ Photochromic Multilaser Racing Red during race day. So happened that it rained during the race. Photochromic lenses really benefited me as the Boston Marathon was a point to point race. I’ve ran across 6 towns and each had a different climate.”  – Edan Syah.

The date of the race day (20th April 2015) falls on his late mother’s birthday. “This is my gift for her. Today I brought along a picture of my mum in remembrance of her.” Edan ran in remembrance of his late mother. When asked what was he thinking when he was running, Edan only thinks of achieving the best. “I could not give up because today’s race is not just for myself but for all who are always there supporting me towards this passionate running journey.”
