Peter Sagan conquers Gand-Wevelgem with Rudy Project

A brilliant performance by Sagan who, after coming second in the Milan-San Remo, won the 75th edition of the Gand-Wevelgem Road Race, the first great Classic of the North. The rider from the Cannondale Pro Cycling Team broke away from the other race leaders 3.5 km from the finish line and won clearly, 23 seconds ahead of the Slovenian Borut Bozic from the Astana Team.

Sagan is delighted: “I had been waiting for ages to win a Classic of the North. These races are my favorites and they suit me too. Why didn’t I wait for the final sprint? I felt very strong and thought it was better to avoid any nasty surprises. The Gand-Wevelgem is not on the same level as the Milan-San Remo, the Flanders or Roubaix, but I am delighted all the same “.

For this race, which was badly affected by the wintry weather conditions (the first fifty kilometers being cancelled due to the cold), the Slovakian rider wore Rudy Project Genetyk™ Racing Pro glasses with the photochromic and shatterproof ImpactX™ Photochromic Red lenses – the best choice under difficult weather conditions like those during this race (cold, rain, wind…) because they allow a better perception of the contrast and are luminous when the light is poor.

Rudy Project also make the ultralight Windmax™ helmet, now available in Lime Fluo, worn for the first time by the champions of the Cannondale Pro Cycling Team.
Peter Sagan is considered to be one of the best and most promising cyclists on the scene, capable of handling all types of circuit and often compared to the great riders of the past. Such grand comparisons appear not to frighten the young Slovakian, however, as borne out by this fearless and confident victory. Sagan is in very good form and ready to win other Classics in perfect “Art of Winning” style.
